SPRING VALLEY
Spring Valley is a community of 1,189 people
strategically located midway between the Twin Cities and Eau Claire. Spring Valley is also
20 minutes from both UW-River Falls to the west and UW-Stout to the east, providing
excellent access to student workers and wide ranging faculty expertise. Many local
residents are employed locally at Oak-Dale Hardwood Products; Veterinary Systems, Inc.;
Schmitt Timber Corporation; and Spring Valley Welding, in addition to other
transportation, service, and retail industries. The area offers a variety of recreational
activities to residents and tourists including: tours of Crystal Cave, Eau Galle
Recreational Area, excellent trout fishing, trophy hunting, challenging golf,
snowmobilling, festivals and much more.

Transportation
Spring Valley lies only 6 miles
south of interstate 94 providing ready access to North American markets. Highway 128,
County Road B, and State Highway 63, all designated long-haul routes, allow long-haul
trailers access to the village. The Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport provides
passenger and commercial services only 66 miles away on the Interstate system. Rail
services is provided by Chicago & Northwestern line, the line is approximately 11
miles north from Spring Valley.
Utilities
Xcel Energy provides Spring Valley with electricity at rates
that are among the lowest in the country. The Village's water supply and sewage treatment
facilities have sufficient excess capacity to meet its needs for the immediate future.
Natural gas is provided by the Wisconsin Gas Company and local telephone service is
provided by the Spring Valley Telephone Company.
Education and Training
Residents and businesses have excellent access to job
training resources, with technical instruction available at Chippewa Valley Technical
College campuses in River Falls and Menomonie, just 18 miles away. The University of
Wisconsin-River Falls and the University of Wisconsin-Stout with a total of 13,000
students, offer a wide range of outstanding postsecondary programs and offer opportunities
for internships and faculty consultations. Also the West Central Wisconsin Private
Industry Council and the Wisconsin Job Service, coordinating agencies for area job
training and development, have offices in Menomonie and River Falls. The outstanding
Spring Valley School District is recognized as one of the most innovative in the state,
and sponsors an active Community Education program.
Health and Medical Facilities
Spring Valley is served by a local office of the River Falls Medical Clinic,
with hospital and emergency care provided by the new Health One medical complex in River
Falls. The Spring Valley Medical Clinic offers skilled nursing care and assisted living
services.
Workforce
Companies can expect to successfully recruit employees from the local labor force,
many of whom commute to the Twin Cities metropolitan area and who would prefer to work
locally if a competitive wage and benefit package can be provided. According to the 1990
Census, approximately 15% of the work force in the Village and the surrounding townships
commute to the Twin Cities.

Community Features
Spring Valley has wonderful assets to share with those employees and their families
working and living in the area. Rolling hills, trout streams, swimming and boating in the
Eau Galle park and recreation area, bike trails, and an 18 hole golf course that is the
best kept secret in all of Northwest Wisconsin. The beautiful and extraordinary caverns of
Crystal Caves are an excellent place to visit. With the community only 50 minutes from
downtown Minneapolis, it makes for easy access to some of the best art, entertainment and
dining in the nation.
